Although Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 smartphone already tasted Gingerbread upgrade in most of the regions since last week, it appears that Canadian owners will have to wait a bit longer.

Those who thought that the carrier won't bother to deploy the Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread for the Xperia X10 will be happy to know that Rogers already confirmed that it will deploy the upgrade soon.

Rumors about Rogers refusing to deliver the Gingerbread upgrade to Xperia X10 owners due to being an old device that the carrier prefers to be replaced with a new one from its portfolio rather than updated with the latest software, have been crawling the Internet for quite a while.

It appears that these rumors were fed by a message posted by a Rogers official two months ago on Facebook that stated the following:

We don't have any new news to share but we will test and release any update that is made available to us by the manufacturer. We'll be sure to update when we have details.”

Even though the carrier doesn't have an exact release date for the upgrade, it decided to come forward and make an additional statement on its official Facebook account:

“We will support the update and make it available to our customers. We don't have timing yet, though. Stay tuned.”

As soon as the update will be available for download, Rogers Xperia X10 owner will be able to update their smartphones with new features and improvements, including the following:

- Facebook inside Xperia – a series of unique integrations of Facebook into your multimedia apps, phonebook and calendar - The possibility to use your phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot - Music player with equalizer - USB tethering – share your 3G data connection via the USB connector - Photo widget – one click access to your photo gallery app - App tray sorting – arrange your apps in the order you want them.
