Telit Wireless Solutions, Inc., the U.S.-based mobile technology unit of Telit Communications, announced recently that one of its products, the GE865-QUAD GSM/GPRS module, had just received certification for use on Rogers Wireless network in Canada. According to the company, the GE865-QUAD module is the smallest one in the world, sporting a form factor of only 22 x 22 x 3 mm, and weighing merely 3.2 grams.

In addition to the small form factor, Telit’s GE865-QUAD solution also comes with optimized power consumption features, which can prove that it is a great option for consumer electronics or for various applications. According to the company, this is the seventh Telit M2M module that receives certification on Rogers' network.

“Rogers Wireless has embraced the M2M marketplace, recognizing the growing importance of remotely accessing and controlling consumer and business electronics,” said Michael Ueland, VP and general manager of Telit Wireless Solutions. “Telit has set a new standard in M2M module size and capability with our GE865-QUAD, enabling pioneering manufacturers to integrate cellular connectivity into smaller devices wirelessly accessible to the customer from anywhere within the Rogers Wireless network.”

The new GE865-QUAD adds to the series of other Telit M2M modules that are already certified by Rogers, including the GE864-QUAD, GC864-QUAD, GE863-QUAD, GE863-GPS, GE862-QUAD and GE862-GPS, the company noted. Moreover, it also added that all modules came with support for a variety of applications, including consumer electronics, security and surveillance, remote device management and maintenance and more.

In addition, Telit's GE865-QUAD is the first product from the company to include a next-generation cellular chipset from Infineon, which makes it possible for the module to come with a single-chip design. At the same time, the features list of the new solution includes “a Ball Grid Array (BGA) design, tape and reel packaging and an integrated TCP/IP protocol stack, that provides support for UDP, FTP and SMTP via AT commands.” Moreover, the new GE865-QUAD module comes with Premium FOTA Management, so as to receive over-the-air remote software updates.
