Starting today, the Canadian carrier Rogers has launched a new Pay As You Go Blackberry service that includes four different subscription types that do not involve any long term contract. Especially useful for tourists, the new plans will make users pay more, but most of the services will be unlimited during certain times of the day (voice, text).

There are four new plans available for Blackberry users, each including voicemail, call display, call waiting, unlimited text, unlimited instant messaging, unlimited e-mail and social networking.

The only difference between the Blackberry Email 40$ and Blackberry Email 55$ is that the former offers users unlimited local calling during 3 - 6 PM, while the latter offers unlimited local calling during evenings between 6 PM – 7 AM, as well as weekends starting from Friday 6 PM until Monday 7 AM.

Also, you can choose between the Blackberry Social or Blackberry Email plans, the main difference is that you will get Unlimited Social Networking to popular sites instead of Unlimited personal email and instant messaging for popular communities.

Overall, it seems that Rogers subscribers will have to pay about $25 more per month, if they want to be free of any long term contract.

PAYG Blackberry plans aren't that spread in Canada, thus Rogers is one of the pioneers that dares to introduce these kind of services, which are not that cheap.

Still, it's a good idea to give your customers more options to choose from, even though some might seem too hefty at first glance. After all, if you want full mobility and freedom this is the price you need to pay.

All the plans described above are pay-by-the-month plans and are only available for those owning a Blackberry smartphones. If you're interested in acquiring one of these plans you can check ou the carrier's website to see which of the four plans would be suitable for you.
