Rod Stewart was honored with a star on Hollywood's coveted Walk of Fame yesterday. The 50-year-old British singer became the 2,293rd star to receive the pavement accolade and was visibly moved when the award was unveiled, according to Contactmusic.
Stewart, who was accompanied by his pregnant fiancé Penny Lancaster, was applauded by celebrities such as TV talk show host Larry King and Hollywood mayor Johnny Grant.
The famous singer has sold over 100 million records and is known worldwide for hits such as DoYou Think I'm Sexy or Maggie May.
Stewart confessed that yesterday's ceremony was one of the best moments in his 40 years of music career.
"It's magnificent. I mean words fail me, really. I've lived here for 30 years and this is one of the finest things that ever happened.
The great thing about this is that I get to be on the pavement, or sidewalk as we call it in America, along with my younger sister, SIR ELTON JOHN", Stewart declared.
The British artist was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.
He received the Diamond Award of World Music Awards show for over 100 million records sold worldwide in 2001 and earned a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album in 2005.
