The last thing you would expect to hit you while at a Rod Stewart concert is a football, but that's exactly what happened to an unlucky American fan attending an event in Las Vegas in October 2012.

NY Daily News reports that Rod Stewart, the aging singer, is not being sued by the victim of an unfortunate accident that took place during a concert from two years ago, when the singer kicked a football into the audience while on stage.

Mostafa Kashe was in the audience at the Caesars Palace Casino in Las Vegas on that faithful October night and never saw the ball coming. Kashe is now seeking $10,000 (€7,795) in compensation for the accident, representing legal fees, lost wages and cosmetic repairs to his nose.

The official papers claim that Kashe, a 53-year-old electrical engineer from Diamond Bar, California, was “unexpectedly hit in the face” by Stewart who was “negligent, careless and/or reckless” while performing on stage.

The lawsuit also brings into discussion the fact that Stewart has extensive expertise when it comes to football, “having previously tried out for a professional soccer team in the UK and regularly playing in amateur soccer leagues since his youth.”

Rod Stewart is known for kicking autographed footballs into the audience at concerts, as a way of giving away autographs to fans. He is quoted as saying “The show wouldn't be the show if I stopped kicking out those footballs. It would be like not playing Maggie May.”
