Batman: Arkham City might not have been a surprise on the level of its predecessor, Arkham Asylum, but it nevertheless delivered a solid and engaging superhero-powered experience and the development team at Rocksteady is ready to create and launch even more exciting titles.

Sefton Hill, who is the game director who worked on Batman: Arkham City, has told VG247 that, “We have lots of exciting ideas about what we want to do next. It’s kind of interesting.

“When you come to the end, you feel like you’ve put everything in; it’s really convergent, the end of the game. And then when you start a new game it’s diverging, and everything becomes possible again.”

The developer says that he and his team have a log of ideas that were described as exciting.

Hill added, “You’re constantly thinking about what can we do to improve the game. If you could press CTRL+ALT+DEL in my brain, it would be 90% Batman at any given time. It sort of means that I can’t function in any other social capacity other than to talk about Batman.”

The Rocksteady team has not yet confirmed that it is working on a new Batman video game but, given the success of the first two titles in the series, this is entirely possible.

Rocksteady might also be thinking about creating an entire new universe in order to make sure that it is not accused of over-exploiting the Batman franchise.

Publisher Warner Bros announced that it had shipped more than 6 million copies of Arkham City to stores, on all platforms, and that the game had been one of most successful of 2011.

A new Batman movie will be launched this year, but so far Warner Bros has been smart in resisting any pressure to deliver a quick tie-in, preferring to focus on quality over opportunity.
