14 DAY TRIAL // Frank Darabont, one of the most celebrated television series creators of the last few years, says that he is forced to change the name of a new format he is working on because developer Rockstar would not allow him to use L.A. Noir as the title.
The television man tells io9 that, “It was going to be called LA Noir, based on the book by John Buntin.”
He adds that Rockstar “threatened to sue the [expletive] out of me, TNT, every company that actually ever worked in Hollywood. And they have the billions of dollars to back it up, apparently.”
It seems that the new title will be Lost Angels and the show will be set in 1947, covering the way the city went through a dark period after World War II.
L.A. Noire was launched in 2011 and tackles many similar themes.
