The team at Rockstar is warning gamers that the downloadable content that will be launched for its Grand Theft Auto V game will be region locked and warns them against importing versions of the title from other territories.

The support page for the game states, “It is generally recommended that you buy and play games that are designated for your country to avoid potential problems with DLC region-compatibility, such as with pre-order bonuses.”

The site goes on to offer information about the codes that identify various regions of the world on the covers of original GTA V retail packages.

The new Rockstar open world game will be launched on September 17 on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 all over the world.

A rumor also suggests that a PC version is in development as well.

Later in the week a full reveal for GTA Online will take place.
