14 DAY TRIAL // Rockstar Games, the company behind hit franchises like Grand Theft Auto, Red Redemption, Midnight Club or Max Payne, has talked about its stance in regards to the PC platform while being asked if it's going to release last year's Red Dead Redemption for it.
Rockstar is an extremely popular games developer and publisher, although PC owners haven't really gotten to experience many of its high quality games, or, if they did, it happened after the titles were already released on consoles ranging from the PlayStation 2 to the Xbox 360 or PlayStation3 .
Now, as part of a Q&A session with fans, the company tackled the issue of Red Dead Redemption and whether or not is' actually going to appear on the PC, especially since a newer game, L.A. Noire, is getting ready to arrive on the platform and next year's Max Payne 3 will arrive on the PC at the same time as consoles.
"We hope that with the announcement that L.A. Noire is coming to PC this fall, and the knowledge that our next big game Max Payne 3 will have a PC release (plus that we've released both Grand Theft Auto IV and the Episodes from Liberty City for PC), we can finally put to rest any misconceptions that we've ‘abandoned the PC platform'."
Rockstar goes on to say that PC strategies are thought up in advance and, seeing as how Red Dead Redemption wasn't such a sure bet, the decision wasn't taken soon enough to make a difference.
"We do know that, yes, there is just one title absent from our PC release plans – that game of course being Red Dead Redemption, and of course we're well aware that some fans have been asking for it. All we can say is that whenever it is viable (technically, developmentally and business-wise) for us to release a game for PC (or any other particular platform) – we will and we usually do; unfortunately, that is just not the case 100% of the time for all platforms."
"To PC gamers, we hope that between the Grand Theft Auto titles, and the forthcoming L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3, you'll have plenty of great Rockstar action to enjoy."
As you can tell, it's pretty much a safe bet that Red Dead Redemption, last year's award winning and extremely profitable Western open world title won't be making its way onto the PC. Consoles can get a new taste of it later this month when the Red Dead Redemption: Game of the Year edition is released.
