Rocks Cluster, an open-source Linux cluster distribution that enables end users to easily build computational clusters, grid endpoints and visualization tiled-display walls, is now at version 5.5 / 6.0.

Rocks Cluster is available for both CentOS 5.8 (Rocks Cluster 5.5) and CentOS 6.2 (Rocks Cluster 6.0). Both the OSes have all updates applied as of May 7, 2012.

This fact means that both Rocks Cluster distros use the same code base, but are compiled on two different releases of CentOS. Keep in mind that the versions are not interchangeable.

A few other important changes have been added: Xen is no longer supported, CentOS 6 natively supports environment modules instead of *-selector, new support for Yum repositories, support of BIOS-named ethernet devices, and a new Package, foundation-sqlite.

A complete changelog can be found in the official release notes.
