Apparently, a woman's inner charm is not enough to turn a few heads. Some Japanese thought it might be better to dress us in lights, or at least to give us a couple of dresses with a large number of attached LEDs, known as light emitting diodes, to be more specific.

The dress allows any woman to shine in the dark, like a genuine Christmas tree. I couldn't find a better comparison. Anyway, the fashion item is fixed with thousands of little LEDs, while the actual dress is nothing but a piece of slightly see-through white fabric to make it appear like it's glowing.

Swarovski is known around the world for its beautifully crafted crystals, but it seems that lately, the company is experimenting in a mixture of high tech and fashion. Japan is said to be its first target.

Recently, the company announced a partnership with a popular Cypriot-British designer called Hussein Chalayan, who has created an unusual dress, using a lot of crystals and LEDs, a popular device which emits lights using the movement of electrons.

Moreover, the shinny dress can be easily programmed to show various images such as cute ones with dolphins swimming in the sea, through the thousands of tiny light bulbs embedded in the dress. The bad news is that people cannot wear and watch the images at the same time.

The funky LED dress was initially unveiled on the catwalk in Paris, for Swarovski's 2007-2008 spring-summer collection last April, but the designers continue to show the innovative dress in Japan where the light LED was actually invented. Plans of making the prototype dress commercially available are unknown for the time being. The main reason for that is the fact that the lowest price for such an amazing fashion item is 20 million yen, or 16.000 USD for a single pop.

It is hard to imagine such a dress would actually have a major success, thought there are many out there who would love to shine at parties!
