You shouldn't be surprised to hear that even more Guitar Hero/Rock Band clones will hit the market - it's only natural, having in mind the huge success these two games have recorded. One of the companies which is going to bring us another
alternative to the rhythm games is Konami. Its title is
Rock Revolution and, if we are to judge by the screenshots released at the E3 event, it's not very different from its competitors (at least, the visuals are very, very similar).
Of course, we understand that it's probably better and easier to follow an already successful receipt than to try something new, but we truly hope there will be at least a few new things for us to enjoy. One thing is clear: as you can see in the screenshots below, the... revolutionary thing won't be the graphical aspect of Rock Revolution.
The game already has a multi-platform scheduled release, with the
PS3 and Xbox 360 versions bringing 40 tracks, online and offline versus mode play as well as co-op, 15 different avatars to represent you in the community and a "Studio" option where players are allowed to freeform their own tracks and record them in-game. And since most of the games are starting to offer this option, we can't help but wonder when we get see the first in-game recorded album released out in the wild.
Konami will also try to please the Wii audience by allowing for an Air Guitar or Air Drum play via the Wii Reomte and Nunchuck, while the Wiimote can be used to perform rockstar-like moves, such as scissor kicks or instrument abuse. Also, up to four people are allowed to play any of the multiplayer supported. The DS version will only come with 20 tracks, but it will feature customizable venues instead, as well as stylus support.
All the versions of the game will be released in Europe during the first Quarter of 2009. This is what you should expect from it:
