OK, but 150 to 200 bucks doesn't sound all that cheap either

Harmonix's Rock Band (Guitar Hero times two), is not hot news anymore, but it certainly is a hot game if we're to believe everything we've been told about so far. Remember talk of Fender peripherals setting gamers back 300 bucks? It was only Gamespot's exaggeration there, but $200 doesn't sound like a fair price for a game either.

That's right, rumors of Rock Band setting fans back $150 to $200 haven't been officially confirmed, nor dismissed by either EA, Harmonix or MTV, meaning that the price for the full package is going to be somewhere in between the two rumored prices. GamesIndustry.biz has Harmonix shedding some light on the matter:

"I think when it's just rumour [about the pricing] and no one has anything tangible to hold on to, people can be afraid - but the fact is we're very conscious of it, and we're doing our best to make it awesome and affordable," said Harmonix art director Ryan Lesser.

That sounds like, not $200, but $193. Maybe not, but let's remember how much the whole set of peripherals from Fender costs, including the game of course (then you wouldn't need the peripherals):

- Rock Band (game) - $59.99 - Rock Band drums set - $79.99 - Rock Band microphone - $49.99 - Rock Band guitar controller - $59.99 - Rock Band wireless guitar - $79.99

Now, remember, this is everything you need to play the game with, but no one is saying get the whole set from Fender. No, as previously announced by Harmonix, future Rock Band gamers will have the option of playing with a regular Guitar Hero controller. But not everything else can be borrowed from other games (unless you hack the game that is).

So I guess neither Harmonix's Ryan Lesser, nor I have answered the question on how much Rock Band will cost, taking accessories and all that into account. I guess we'll just have to wait for some word from Harmonix again.
