Music games are quite popular because they combine two very entertaining things for a lot of people. As such, many music lovers have become interested in franchises such as Rock Band or Guitar Hero, which let them experience playing in concerts and singing their favorite tracks.

Now, Iron Maiden fans will have yet another reason to purchase Rock Band, as MTV Games, its publisher, alongside Harmonix, its developer, have announced that a very special track pack would arrive on June 9 to the Rock Band Music Store for the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the Nintendo Wii.

The release coincides with the launch in the United States of Flight 666, which is a documentary that tells the story of the first leg of Iron Maiden's Somewhere Back in Time World Tour. Coupled with this release, on Blu-ray and DVD, fans will get the complete experience by downloading and playing songs such as the following in Rock Band:

Aces High (live)
2 Minutes to Midnight
The Trooper
Wasted Years
The Number of the Beast
Run to the Hills
Can I Play With Madness
The Clairvoyant
Powerslave
Fear of the Dark (live)
Hallowed Be Thy Name (live)
Iron Maiden (live).

“Fans have been asking us to do something with Rock Band for some time and this seemed to be a perfect opportunity," said Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood. "Our recent Somewhere Back in Time tour was perhaps the most enjoyable one we have ever undertaken, and certainly the most successful with almost two million people catching the shows round the World. So it just seemed a good idea to make some of the songs we played available now so fans can play along with the band on the tour. Then we shall see if they can keep up with the band!”

As always, the tracks are master recordings, and will arrive on June 9 for the Xbox 360 and the Wii, and on June 11 for the PlayStation 3. Priced at 1.99 dollars or 160 MS Points per track, the whole pack can be acquired on the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 for just 19.99 dollars or 1,600 MS Points.
