Music games are becoming one of the biggest sources of profit during these troubled times, as more and more people are buying them so that they can enjoy themselves along with their family and friends. But another very important revenue source is the launch of songs for the games after their release, via DLC (Downloadable Content).

It has become a tradition for companies such as Harmonix or Activision to release tracks for low prices so that people would be able to buy them. As Activision already announced the DLC lineup for this month, Harmonix has just release the list of songs that will be making an appearance this week onto the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Store on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively.

This week it seems that Rock Band players will be able to get their groove on, as select tracks from the 1970s and 80s will be available for download. Part of the “Get the Funk Out 01” pack, gamers across the world will be able to enjoy songs from legendary musicians and bands like James Brown, Earth, Wind and Fire or Average White Band.

For more hardcore rockers, the Harmonix team has prepared tracks from Papa Roach or indie rock band The New Pornographers. Punk will also be present as Against Me! will bring its Thrash Unreal track to the online music stores for the game.

Here are a few of the tracks that are going to be released with this new pack. Click here for a full list:

Average White Band “Pick Up the Pieces” Earth Wind & Fire “Shining Star” Against Me! “Thrash Unreal” Papa Roach “Last Resort” Papa Roach “Lifeline”

Prices will start from 1.99 dollars or 160 MS Points for each individual track, and the Funk pack, consisting of the first three songs, will be available for download for just 5.49 dollars or 440 MS Points. With prices such as these, a lot of rockers will certainly be anxious to get their groove on when the DLC hits. Until then, you can still shop around the Rock Band Music store to find tracks that you might have missed.
