Music games are a lot of companies' bread and butter during these financial times as they hold the key to quite a few profit opportunities, from the retail sales of the titles to peripheral marketing and the release of premium DLC tracks that arrive each week in order to enhance the repertoire of the games.

Harmonix, the studio behind the Rock Band franchise, has become a professional at it, bringing a big number of songs to its DLC portfolio for both Rock Band and Rock Band 2. Now, as part of yet another big update made to the Wii version of Rock Band 2, rockers will get a chance to play hit songs from cult bands such as Social Distortion, Disturbed, Silversun Pickups, Duran Duran or Motley Crue.

The update, which will appear today on the Rock Band 2 Online Store for the Nintendo Wii, will offer a wide variety of tracks from which everyone can pick at least one that they would like to play in the game while envisioning themselves on the big stages of the world and living the rockstar life.

Here are the songs that will be launched today:   Social Distortion “Bad Luck” Social Distortion “Ring of Fire” Social Distortion “Story of My Life” Steely Dan “Black Friday” Steely Dan “My Old School” Disturbed “Stricken” Disturbed “Stupify” Elvis Costello “Radio Radio” The Replacements “Kids Don’t Follow” Siouxsie & The Banshees “Hong Kong Garden” Siouxsie & The Banshees “Kiss Them For Me” Siouxsie & The Banshees “The Killing Jar” Locksley “All Over Again” Locksley “Don’t Make Me Wait” Locksley “She Does” Silversun Pickups “Melatonin” Silversun Pickups “Well Thought Out Twinkles” Duran Duran “Girls On Film” Duran Duran “Rio” Buckcherry “Rescue Me” Mötley Crüe “Face Down in the Dirt” Psychedelic Furs “Pretty in Pink” Sixx:A.M. “Life is Beautiful” The Pretenders “Brass in Pocket” The Janitors “Get Your Rock On”
