Even though the general populace is getting ready for the back-to-school season, the craving for new games and, of course, gaming gear is as strong as ever, to the point where the German company Roccat saw no reason against unveiling the Kone[+] gaming mouse.

Basically, the Kone[+] is a mouse whose precision and aesthetic value have been driven as high as Roccat could manage.

One of the major assets of the peripheral is the 6,000dpi Pro-Aim laser sensor which, coupled with the 10.5 megapixel resolution and 1,000Hz polling rate, enables a very high level of precision.

The mouse also comes with a Tracking & Distance Control Unit (TDCU) that further optimizes this precision in order to significantly boost one's performance during gameplay.

The mouse is powered by a 72MHz TurboCore processor and has eight EasyShift[+] buttons which can enable up to 22 functions.

Roccat also threw in a 4D scroll wheel, a 4-LED multi-color lighting system and 576kB of on-board memory. This memory is intended for the setting up of up to 5 game profiles.

"Thanks to the Tracking & Distance Control Unit (TDCU), which is now integrated in the laser sensor, the ROCCAT Kone[+] can also control lift-off distance as well as fine tune the sensor to suit the mousepad, resulting in optimal tracking," says the company's official press release.

It should likely be noted that one of the buttons switches the mouse to a pre-set DPI, a feature mostly meant for sniping during first-person shooters.

Other specifications include EasyAim and EasyWheel functions, 30 Gs of acceleration, Speeds of up to 200ips (5.08m/s) and a 2m-long USB 2.0 cable.

The Roccat Kone[+] is slated to make an appearance at IFA Berlin, later this quarter, and will bear a price tag of roughly 79.99 Euro, which is the equivalent of £56 in the UK.
