Roccat has just announced that the second version of its Kulo gaming headset will soon become available and this now features a separate 7.1 channel USB sound card that makes the whole experience much more dynamic and immersive.

The new addition to the company's arsenal is officially called the Roccat Kulo Virtual 7.1 USB Gaming Headset and its most distinctive features is the separate 7.1 channel audio sound card that can be installed into an empty USB slot.

This makes it compatible with a wide range of gaming PCs and can even be used in conjunction with notebooks, where it could prove particularly useful considering the mediocre sound quality of the audio codecs installed.

As for the headset itself, this is built using 40mm drivers with neodymium magnets and Mylar membranes and the company states it has been specially optimized for gaming, music and voice chat.

The playback volume can be controlled via an in-line remote and the USB audio card driver packs an equalizer, to adjust each sound channel separately, as well as a series of presets which can be used to alter the sound effect.

Other features include a noise-filtering microphone that can be muted by raising the boom arm, a flexible metal-reinforced headband which offers eight levels of height adjustment, and a noise canceling technology.

“The ultra-lightweight Kulo headset features super-soft on-ear padding and the Automatic Mic-Mute function, and delivers thrilling surround sound with separately adjustable levels when used in conjunction with the 7.1 USB sound card.

“You hear footsteps behind you to the left, a rustle, shouts – you’ll hear the enemy before you see him,” reads the company's official statement.

The Roccat Kulo Virtual 7.1 USB Gaming Headset will be available from the start of May 2011 and its recommended retail price is set at €79.99.
