The Kickstarter-funded 3D printer should reach buyers by the end of March

Back in November, I reported on a Kickstarter project for the Robox 3D printer. Now I can say that the product has become a reality and will reach those who pledged their money and support soon.

And by “soon” I mean by the end of this month, March 2014. Which means that, from late November to now, Robox went from young project to selling product in just 3 months.

That was pretty fast, since Kickstarter projects usually have a shipment ETA of a year or six months at least, assuming they even reach their funding goal in the first place.

Anyway, Robox will reach you in a few weeks if you were among the ones that supported the project.

Meanwhile, Robox, the company, has begun work on a new extruder. According to CEO Chris Elsworthy, all the software and plug-and-play “foibles” have been done away with, so accessories are the next logical step.

Maybe in the future we will see other 3D printers besides this dual-extruder, auto-leveling contraption. It might take months, it might take years, but it's very likely.

Or Robox might get bought by MakerBot or some other major 3D printing company. It happens often enough on every other segment of this capitalist economy after all.
