This year's GITEX exhibition in Dubai allowed visitors to come face to face with what manufacturers claim to be a world first: robotic dinosaurs which can detect human emotions and respond to changes in their surrounding environments.

Apparently, these Camarasaurus hatchlings are intended to be the perfect pets for people who are very fond of technology and who would much rather have a pet robot than a run-off-the-mill pet cat or dog.

Speaking about Pleo, the robotic dinosaur showcased at this exhibition, merchandiser Imran Khan explains that this unusual pet is equipped with as many as 38 sensors, which allow it to detect feelings such as fear, hunger, anger and love.

Moreover, it seems that Pleo can recognize its adoptive family and responds to how its adoptive family treats it.

“I have not seen such a thing before in my life and having a dinosaur as a pet is such an interesting thing. It is even better that having like a real live animal; I mean they are so messy and you know you have to feed them real food and stuff that may cost a lot,” one visitor to the exposition said.
