Good news, geeks! Two of the giant fish in the robotic industry, Wowwee and Evolution Robotics, announced their intention of joining forces and launching a new category of entertainment robots, functional robots and robotic toys, covering a wider area in the field.

Still, there is no official word on what the product's main target is going to be. All the official representatives know is that at least three products are planned for release in 2009, with some other additional products under development.

TMCnet reports that each product will be powered by Evolution Robotics' latest NorthStar 2.0 technology, as well as deliver some "breakthrough robotic capabilities" that haven't been available to the robot and robotic toy mass market until now. Can't wait to see this!

According to the same source, Davin Sufer, Chief Technical Officer of Wowwee said: "Evolution's technologies are revolutionizing the way we interact with robots and consumers will be truly amazed when they see what these products can do. Together we plan to create an entirely new category of products to match the excitement and interactivity of video games, with blazing speeds and real-time action."

TMCnet says that the new product series is the result of great partnership between the two companies involving 18 months of research and development to design an innovative positioning and tracking system that will enable a robot to interact with people, with several environments, as well as other bots.

Paolo Pirjanian, the President and CEO of Evolution Robotics has also made a comment on the fact: "We are extremely excited to have Wowwee as our go-to-market partner for this new category of robotic products." Wowwee are the ones that revolutionized the consumer robotics market with the introduction of Robosapien in 2004, no to mention their impressive portfolio. We Woo see about that, soon!
