“RoboCop” Viral Campaign Reveals ED-209, First Hint of RoboCop

Since Hollywood has turned its attention to the classics, all of which it's either remaking or rebooting, “RoboCop” could not have escaped its notice. Above is the first video from a newly launched viral campaign for the remake.

Directed by Jose Padilha and starring Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson and Hugh Laurie, the film will most likely follow basically the same story arch as the original.

OmniCorp is the company that created RoboCop, a mix of human parts and robotics, after ED-209 proved a failure.

In the new film, judging by the video above, ED-209 and RoboCop will probably be complementary technologies.

“We don’t do passive technology. At OmniCorp, our solutions generate a beacon of safety that we shine upon on the dangers of the day. No matter the obstacle – political, cultural, philosophical – we pursue our convictions around the globe to secure peace of mind at home,” says a statement on the official website.

“And when this requires bold new direction, we never allow doubt to shrink our duty. When your quality of life is in the balance, our leadership team will tip the scales,” it adds.

“RoboCop” will be out on August 9, 2013.
