More details are emerging in the tragic case of comedic actor Robin Williams. During a press conference held yesterday, Lt. Keith Boyd revealed the conditions under which the actor's body was found and he confirmed that he had indeed committed suicide.

The police investigation revealed that the actor was found suspended just slightly, in a seated position, with his belt around his neck. More shocking, however, is the fact that Williams also had acute and superficial wounds on the inside of his left wrist at the time of death, indicated that he tried to cut the veins in that region.

Williams went to great lengths to hang himself in the bedroom of his house, it's been revealed. One end of the belt he hung himself with was looped around his neck, while the other was wedged between the closed bedroom door and the door frame.

The reporting police officer also described the rest of the scene, confirming that the actor also had cuts on the inside of his left wrist. It is believed that the cuts were made with a pocketknife that was found near the dead body. On the knife, there were red marks which the police believe is dried blood. Further tests are going to indicate if the marks on the knife are in fact the actor's blood.

The rest of the police report reveals the last hours of Robin's life. The last person to see him alive was his wife Susan Schneider around 10:30 PM on the night of August 10. She went to sleep in a different room in the house, leaving Robin to spend the night in his bedroom.

The following day she left the house thinking that he was still asleep. The person who found the actor's body was his assistant who became alarmed at around 11:45 AM when Williams wouldn't answer to his knocks on the bedroom door. After the assistant entered the bedroom, he found the actor's body and called 911.

The police report confirms that Robin's body was already cool to the touch and rigor mortis had set in, indicating that death had occurred some time before. Paramedics arrived on the scene 15 minutes after the call was made, at 12:00 PM and death was declared at 12:02 on August 11.

The body of the dead comedian was taken to the morgue, where a forensic investigation concluded that he hadn't been involved in a physical altercation and there were no signs of struggle. Cause of death was listed as asphyxia caused by the hanging.

There are still tests to be done until a final verdict can be reached in the case, but that is not expected to come for several weeks. At that point, the police announced that they were going to schedule another press conference and make the results public.
