Before Robin Williams took his own life in the bedroom of his home at the beginning of the week due to a deeply-set depression, the actor had shown all the typical signs and yet no one seemed to pick up on them and offer proper help.

Reports from Radar are now indicating that the actor slept for as long as 18 hours a day during the final months of his life and had even lost most of his appetite, which are clear signs of depression, found in most people suffering from the same condition.

“Robin had been suffering from depression and would often sleep a majority of the day and night. His bedroom had black out curtains, because Robin didn’t want light in his bedroom,” claims one source, offering us a glimpse into the life of the man that had made us all laugh and cry so many times over the years.

Furthermore, “He wasn’t eating and was just having problems getting out of bed. He would often complain that he was just so tired, even after sleeping 20 hours,” adds the same source.

The problem with Williams was that “He had been battling depression for most of his adult life . . . it was always there.” Today, there is no doubt in anyone's mind that Williams had had a lot of issues over the years.

Having battled, conquered, and then relapsed into alcohol addition, it was clear that Robin's mental health was suffering. He often spoke candidly about his bout with alcohol and even hard drugs such as cocaine, to which he was addicted in the beginning of his career but which he quit cold-turkey as soon as his first son was born in 1983.

After the news of his terrible death spread across the world, more and more people have been wondering how the actor could have slipped into such a deep depression without being aided by his family. In the last days, many articles have been written about why Robin was depressed, but the motives don't really matter at this point; what matters is that all of this could have been prevented with professional help.

Naturally, the actor's family has been the most hit by his tragic death. The source reports that “Everyone is obviously just stunned that Robin committed suicide . . . his family is holed up together and beginning to make plans for a very private funeral. There will most likely be a public memorial to celebrate his life that his fans can be a part of.”
