2013 was a good year for Robin Thicke, who saw his profile skyrocket after the release of “Blurred Lines,” his controversial but incredible popular collaboration with Pharrell and T.I. Considering this was one of the songs to get the most airplay in the past year, Thicke could almost be excused for trying to play the diva card ahead of a paid appearance.

Page Six claims that Thicke literally threatened to pull out of said appearance, to which he had agreed many months in advance, because he wasn’t happy with the accommodations he and wife Paula Patton had been provided with.

The appearance was for a New Year’s Eve Great Gatsby-themed party at the SLS Hotel South Beach in Miami, with the singer arriving in town on Monday – and shortly afterwards threatening to storm out.

The report doesn’t mention how the dispute was eventually settled, but it does say that Thicke asked to be moved right after checking in and even trying to play the diva card by threatening to back out of the performance if his demand wasn’t met.

“He threatened to pull out if he didn’t get a bigger room. His travel agent was calling all over Miami to get him a bigger room at a different hotel,” an insider tells Page Six.

Thicke’s rep wouldn’t comment on the story, while a spokesperson for the hotel would only say that “Robin has been a great guest,” which probably means that he eventually got a different room, more to his liking.

Before the Miami gig, Robin and his wife were in Las Vegas, where he performed at another – and, this time, early – New Year’s Eve party at the 1Oak. Insiders tell the e-zine that, right before his turn was up, Robin and Paula did not engage with the crowd, because they were too lost in each other’s eyes and arms.

“No one could interrupt them. Fans were coming up to them, but the couple ignored them. The only time they broke away from each other was when Thicke went to the DJ booth to yell ‘Happy New Year’,” an eyewitness says of their PDA session.
