14 DAY TRIAL // This is one more blow to singer Robin Thicke who has had a particularly bad year so far. In light of recent confessions that he's been abusing drugs and alcohol for some time now, his estranged wife Paula Patton is said to file for full custody, thus taking away Robin's last remnant of his family.
The news comes via some insiders that have spoken with Radar and who claim that Paula is determined to ask for full custody of their son if Robin doesn't “get his act together.” The singer has recently confessed in a deposition regarding a copyright claim for the song “Blurred Lines” that he was pretty much high on Vicodin and drunk on vodka the whole time the song was in production.
Robin later claimed he was off drugs, but still drinking
He later claimed that the divorce from Paula Patton was a wake-up call for him and he was sober now, but then added that sober meant he was no longer taking medication, which meant that he was still abusing alcohol.
Based on what has transpired in the press, insiders reveal that “Paula will not allow Robin to be present in Julian’s life if he is still drinking and using drugs. He needs to stop altogether.” Julian is Robin and Paula's 3-year-old son, and since the split, he's been spending time with both of them separately.
Paula and Robin have been separated since February, but Patton has been unwilling to file the divorce papers, which led Robin think for a while that there might be a reconciliation. He tried and failed to win her back, even dedicating his new album (which flopped, by the way) to her. It seems that Paula needed more than songs and promises to forgive his past transgressions.
Paula is ready to move on, wants to take their son Julian away from Robin
Since then, the couple have stopped wearing their wedding rings, have put their home up for sale and bought separate houses. Moreover, they are said to be in the middle of dividing up their assets at the moment. Which would explain the issues with the custody.
The couple have still not revealed to the public the reason why they broke up, but it's generally believed that it has to do with Robin's cheating. This is something that he managed to overdo, seeing as how him and Paula were in an open relationship for years.
Insiders claimed that for Paula it was all over when she walked in on him and a masseuse sleeping together, with whom they were in a “consensual three-way relationship.” The fact that Robin was photographed pinching fans on their behind and that he was publicly fondled on stage at the VMAs by Miley did not help his case.
