Things haven't exactly worked out for Robin lately

No one ever said that fame was easy. In exchange for people knowing your face as you pass them on the street, you have to give up on a couple of things. Right now, Robin Thicke is experiencing the bad side of fame, since he's just been divorced, his latest album flopped and he's now in the middle of a copyright battle about his only commercial hit to date.

A report from InTouch claims that all these problems have pushed the singer who hasn't been able to catch a break for some time now to drink himself into a stupor every night, just to be able to get over the pain.

Robin has been hitting the bottle hard since the divorce

During a recent deposition he gave, Robin Thicke admitted that he wasn't responsible for writing “Blurred Lines,” his only commercial hit song to date, that came under fire for copying Marvin Gaye's “Give It Up.”

The singer admitted that he couldn't write the song because at the time he was constantly high on Vicodin and vodka. He also said that since his divorce he had been staying clean, but by that he meant that he was no longer taking pills.

His drinking is said to have been caused by the divorce from his wife Paula Patton

The report claims that he is substituting his pills with copious amounts of alcohol, enough to make him pass out drunk every night, “He’s been drinking and partying almost every night since splitting with Paula. He’s trying to numb the pain of losing the love of his life.”

People in his entourage are said to be getting worried about his constant drinking and are reaching out to Paula Patton, his former wife. “She, his parents and his record company tried to stage an intervention several months ago, but he simply refused,” says the same source with a lot of insight into the life of Thicke.

Another source claims that the drinking is even taking its toll on his social life. It is claimed that when the singer was out partying in Los Angeles with Leonardo DiCaprio, he wasn't “his usual animated self. While their table was filled with beautiful women, he stayed off to the side, looking depressed.” The source adds that “a drink never left his hand the whole night.”

Sounds like the man has serious alcohol issues, but they might not be necessarily related to the recent failures in his life. If he was really so affected by the divorce, he should have stopped the moment his wife came back to stage an intervention. But he didn't.

Right now, the singer is still facing the copyright infringement lawsuit for his song “Blurred Lines” in which Pharrell Williams is also being called out for lifting music from Marvin Gaye.
