14 DAY TRIAL // It turns out that Paula Patton was so bothered by Robin Thicke's onstage antics as she was with his constant drug and alcohol abuse, and this is the ultimate reason she chose to terminate their marriage, despite seemingly endless public pleas from the singer to reconsider.
The news came from the artist himself who, back in April, gave a very candid deposition in the case in which he's being accused that he plagiarized Marvin Gaye's song “Got to Give It Up.” Thicke claimed in the deposition that, at the time he was writing the song, he was “high on Vicodin and alcohol.”

He also admitted that he didn't do “one sober interview” during that time, claiming that he would take Vicodin and drink a bottle of water filled with vodka first thing in the morning, sometimes even during the interview itself. This is why now he's refuting everything he said during that time.
“Every day I woke up, I would take a Vicodin to start the day and then I would fill up a water bottle with vodka and drink it before and during my interviews,” the singer confessed. This is aimed at clearing him of any guilt in the plagiarism suit.
The April testimony had been held as a secret up until now, but it was revealed in federal court on Monday, according to Fox News. It paints a very grim picture of Robin Thicke and the work involved in creating one of last year's biggest hit songs.

The more shocking part came when the interviewer asked Thicke if he considered himself an honest person. He replied with “No. That's why I'm separated,” hinting that this is the real reason why Patton chose to leave him so suddenly after being together for years.
The next question was if Thicke was being selective about telling the truth. Again, he denied this allegation, responding “Absolutely not. I told my wife the truth, That's why she left me.” Since the split, the singer confessed to being sober.
Although, his concept of sober is somewhat different than a normal person's. Thinke admitted that “My sobriety of is off Vicodin,” hinting that he still drinks alcohol. He added “When your wife leaves you, it gives you good reason to sober up.”
Previously, it was believed that Thicke's marital indiscretions led to his divorce. Robin performed at last year's VMAs in a very raunchy scene with Miley Cyrus, and later, he was caught kissing and groping female fans. So far, there has been no indication that drugs and alcohol might be the cause for the split.
