Robert Redford has a soft spot for horses. He believes that these animals do not deserve being abused and brutally killed once they are no longer of any use to us.

“Horse slaughter has no place in our culture. It is cruel, inhumane, and perpetuates abuse and neglect of these beloved animals,” the actor has argued in a recent interview.

To prove that he practices what he preaches, Robert Redford is now joining animal rights activists in their fight against horse slaughterhouses across the United States. Ecorazzi says that, for the time being, the actor has his mind set on keeping a new horse slaughterhouse from opening in New Mexico.

To achieve his goal, Robert Redford is to team up with Bill Richardson, US Ambassador to the UN, and form the Foundation to Protect New Mexico Wildlife.

Later on, this Foundation will team up with the Humane Society of the United States, and file a lawsuit intended to prevent New Mexico's latest slaughterhouse from opening on August 13, as scheduled.

I know it all sounds a tad complicated, but both Robert Redford and the Humane Society of the United States are confident that their plan will work. Here's hoping it will.
