He has often spoken out against the excessive amounts of attention people pay to him, as well as on the kind of exposure every little thing he does is getting, but never before has Robert Pattinson been so affected by his own superstar status. The constant attention from fans and especially the exaggerated manner in which they react to his mere presence have ended up by affecting his performance on the set of “Remember Me,” OK! Magazine has it from a very reliable source.

Signing autographs for fans and even posing for a couple of photos with them can be extremely fun, which is why many celebrities do it every chance they get. However, large crowds are hard to control, especially when we’re talking female fans who can barely get a grip on themselves and would do anything to touch their idol, as they run amok on set and security can hardly keep them at bay. This is reality for Pattinson every day on the set of his latest film, and it seems things have gotten to a point where he can barely concentrate on his acting, an insider working on Robert’s security team reveals.

“It’s crazytown. There are all these girls with a lot of hormones and a lot of time on their hands.” the spy says, adding that, most of the time, the set of the film is complete madness. However, even so, the British actors tries to be polite and even to talk to some of the fans who gain access on set, but that fuels the madness even more. “Rob’s a nice guy – he doesn’t want to disappoint people. He stops to say hello when he can, but he just can’t do it a lot. People bring him gifts, but we can’t take them – we don’t know where they’ve come from.” the source explains.

Apparently, things have gotten so bad that producers have resorted to building a “box” for Robert to spend time in between takes. This is a tall and wide enough enclosure where the actor can catch his breath or enjoy his break without having to travel to his trailer and be mobbed by female fans, like it has happened at least on two separate occasions so far. Nevertheless, the fact that it has come to this has left Pattinson close to heartbroken, since he would have wanted fans to concentrate on his art and not on his public persona, and he really hoped this film would establish him as a serious actor and not just a “heartthrob.”

“I worked on ‘Gossip Girl’ with guys like Penn Badgley. We’d go out after work and play beer pong. Nobody would bother them. There’s no way Rob can do that. He’d be mobbed. I feel bad for him.” the on-set source further explains. Judging by how fans reacted when they caught up with him as he was en route to his trailer (one time ripping his clothes off, the other ending with Pattinson being hit by a moving taxi), the security insider is right. It’s no wonder the actor is said to be desperate to return to the relative anonymity he enjoys back in the UK, it is being said.
