Given Robert Pattinson’s appeal with the public, especially with the female segment, it’s no wonder that whatever he does makes headlines, even if it has nothing to do with his acting career. Such is the case of a new acquaintance Robert made while in Cannes, a mystery blonde who reportedly has the actor head over heels in love, as Life & Style informs.

According to the glossy publication, after the amfAR charity event, where Robert agreed to have himself auctioned – actually, two kisses from him, for the sake of accuracy – the actor was introduced to a gorgeous blonde who instantly got all his attention. As a matter of fact, the girl, who is in no way connected to showbiz other than getting to hang out with Pattinson, one of the hottest stars of the moment, got so much of the actor’s attention that he could hardly be convinced to be separated from her for a second the entire night.

“Erika [Dutra, a Los Angeles resident] was introduced to Robert by a mutual friend at the beginning of the night and he was smitten with her from that point on. He took pictures of her, sat with her all night, and the two of them were even seen kissing! There was serious chemistry between them, and they looked like they were having an amazing time.” an eyewitness tells the aforementioned publication, vouching that the two were inseparable for the entire night.

The two were so smitten with each other, in fact, the spy further reveals, that they might have even spent the remaining of the night together. While that cannot and will probably never be verified in any way, what it is known is that, at least, Robert and Erika left the post-amfAR party together, which could indicate that this is, as they say, the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Granted, Robert Pattinson will never confirm anything about his personal life no matter how absurd the rumor may be or not, so fans waiting for his rep to say “Yes, Robert and Erika are an item” might as well not hold their breath for it, several celebrity magazines point out. Still, should this turn out to be the case, meaning, should Pattinson make public appearances with Erika on his arm, then this would definitely infirm, once and for all, speculation about him dating “Twilight” co-star Kristen Stewart.
