For a very long time, the “Hunger Games” franchise has been described as “the new Twilight” for reasons that still evade fans of both. Now, they might actually cross paths, with Robert Pattinson wanted for a part in the former.

Now that he’s done with “The Twilight Saga,” Pattinson is keeping the industry guessing on where he might turn next.

TMT believes there’s a chance he will join another major film franchise, “Hunger Games,” in the sequel “Catching Fire.”

“TMT received a tip the studio is chasing Robert Pattinson to join the cast of Catching Fire, the sequel Francis Lawrence is taking over after helmer Gary Ross' high-profile departure, as Finnick Odair,” the e-zine writes.

“Finnick was the one of the competition's youngest champions, at fourteen, having won the 65th annual Hunger Games for District 4. […] Described as quite the ladies’ man, we're not talking Edward Cullen,” notes the same media outlet.

Fans point out that this rumor has actually been around on Twitter for longer, but they also stress that, at this point, Pattinson might want to do something else than join a franchise – i.e. go indie.
