He’s handsome, has a certain aura of mystery about him, talks with a British accent and, what’s more important, plays an equally charming and lovable vampire in what is clearly the hottest movie franchise of the moment, “The Twilight Saga.” Given all this, it’s no wonder that Robert Pattinson was literally mobbed by female fans the other day as he was trying to make his way to his trailer on the set of “Remember Me.”

Who gave Robert’s female fans access to what must have been a restricted area is not yet clear, but chances are it was not necessarily something the actor or his management had approved of, since the three or four bodyguards protecting him are obviously overwhelmed. Moreover, while most girls chose to yell Robert’s name and scream at him how much they loved him (when they were not chocking on their own tears, that is), two fans with more guts dared to do the unthinkable: hug Pattinson.

As you will see from the video below, Robert is anything but comfortable with the hoard of screaming women, let alone with their passionate profession of love. The actor is seen repeatedly running his hand through his hair and smiling somewhat awkwardly, as his beefy bodyguards are doing their best to keep the crowd at bay – or at least at an arm’s distance from Robert, whose only purpose seems to be that of reaching his destination faster.

Come to think of it, several celebrity-oriented publications point out, it’s no wonder Pattinson seems so dazed by the screaming crowd of female fans, since he repeatedly stressed that he found the media attention disconcerting and the reaction of some of his fans a bit too exaggerated. During the Cannes Film Festival, for instance, Robert required the services of three heavy-built bodyguards who, at one point, had to literally carry him on their shoulders to avoid being crushed by a mob of similarly hysterical female fans.

Before that, Pattinson was saying in another interview that he often felt responsible for what fans did to attract his attention. “One time there were these four girls – in Chicago I think – and they had all scratched their necks until they bled, and then when they came up to me they had these bleeding scabs. It was gross. I feel guilty because when you have hundreds of people looking to you, you have to live up to expectations. You see all these people that surround you and you think that one way or another you have to please them.” the British star revealed.
