First official video sees “Twilight” star in a brand new light

To speak the truth, the actors from “Twilight” have not been able yet to match the success they've been enjoying with the franchise, but that's not saying it's too late. Robert Pattinson, for instance, has no less than 3 movies coming out in 2012.

One of them is “Bel Ami,” based on the famous novel by Guy de Maupassant, in which he plays the heartbreaker. The first official trailer for it is now out.

“Bel Ami” got off to a good start while still shooting, partly because of interest in Pattinson, partly because of the impressive cast, but things seem to reach a dead end – and nothing much was heard of it.

A trailer emerged online (leaked?) in July but it was quickly pulled. The one released just now seems to be the same, only in better quality.

While Pattinson has had a bad rap with movie buffs because of “Twilight,” there's no denying many are rooting for him, we included.

The trailer does promise some spectacular acting and even more impressive set pieces, but there are also bits that grate on one's nerve for their studied theatricality. Or maybe that's how they're supposed to look.

“Bel Ami” will be out in the UK on March 2, 2012. A US release date is still pending.
