With millions of fans swooning at the mere sight of a photo with him, the last thing that is on British actor Robert Pattinson’s mind is personal hygiene. Always the one to shy away from the heartthrob label that the media and the fans are pinning on him, the “Twilight” star admits that he sees no point in washing his hair, or cleaning his apartment for that matter, in a recent interview with Extra.

Talk of Pattinson being quite a “dirty boy” first started earlier this week, when several of his co-stars in “New Moon” spoke to the media and revealed that he was not in the habit of taking showers that often, which often made the air around him unbreathable. Now, the actor busts yet another “myth,” the one about his always funky hairdos. The secret, it seems, is that he does not wash his hair that often, if at all for long periods of time.

“I don’t really see the point in washing your hair. If you don’t care if your hair’s clean or not then why would you wash it? It’s like, I don’t clean my apartment ‘cause I don’t care. I have my apartment for sleeping in and I have my hair for just, you know, hanging out on my head. I don’t care if it’s clean or not.” the handsome actor says in a recent interview with Extra.

As noted above, earlier this week, word got out in the media that Pattinson was literally stinking up the “New Moon” set because of his open aversion to water and bathing products. “He stinks. I mean, it’s awful. He never showers, and it drives people on the set crazy.” an unnamed source told the media at the time. Another one agreed that Pattinson literally stank to high heaven, which made it very hard to spend even a couple of minutes in his presence. “He completely reeks.” the other source further explained.

Granted, Pattinson is also known, other than for his good looks that get hearts racing wherever he shows up, for his shyness and utter refusal to comply with the hottie label attached to him. Perhaps, it has been suggested, refusing to wash and grossing people out with his smell, is just the only way he could think of to make people leave him alone and respect his privacy.
