Actor Robert Pattinson tossed an alligator over his shoulder, put on a hat and his best brooding face for the cover of the April 2011 issue of Vanity Fair. In the interview, he talks about his upcoming film, fame, “Twilight” and Kristen Stewart.

The British heartthrob usually gives very fun and sincere interviews, and this time it’s no different, opening up on a wide range of topics. He answers every one of the questions VF has for him – save for one.

Pattinson will still not talk about his rumored girlfriend, his co-star in the insanely popular “Twilight Saga.” Instead, he’d rather speak of Kristen’s acting ability, which is one of the first things that he first noticed in her.

“Kristen is very focused on being an actress. I mean, that’s what she is… she’s an actress, whereas I just don’t really know,” he tells the magazine (quotes via RobPattinson.blogspot.com, one of the fansites).

The reporter presses Robert for a more definite answer: are they or are they not dating? Is their real-life relationship mirroring the one they play onscreen in the “Twilight” films?

“Yes. Um. No, not really. It’s pretty hard to… It’s just very traumatic. Oh, I don’t know [if we’re ‘intense about each other’]. She’s cool,” Robert says, visibly uncomfortable.

“Even before I knew her, I thought she was a really good actress. Like, I saw Into the Wild, and I thought she was really good in that. I still think there are very few girls in her class that are as good as she is. It’s funny that she’s the one doing this huge thing,” he adds, again talking about Kristen as an actress and thus bringing the discussion on more neutral ground.

In the same interview, Rob also recalls how he fell “in love” with one of the elephants on the set of “Water for Elephants” and explains why his life is not really as fascinating as some would believe it is.

He’s just a boring homebody who likes to keep to himself, read books, play and listen to music, and watch TV. The kind of fame he’s been enjoying for some years now, the hundreds of hysterical fans waiting for him wherever he may go, is nearly driving him mad because he understands none of that.

“I’m just so boring… I’m just so dried up… I’ve just kind of stopped doing everything. I never change the channel in my trailer. I just watch reruns of House of Payne and Two and a Half Men. I love Cops – I think it’s my favorite TV show. God… I sound like such a loser,” he says.
