Even before word got out that “Twilight” darlings Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, who played lovers onscreen and dated in real life as well for over 3 years, broke up, there were rumors that Katy Perry had also taken a fancy to the handsome Brit.

Just recently, reports picked up that the two were dating, as he sought comfort and understanding in her arms, after calling it quits with Kristen who, one year ago, was shamed publicly after she was caught kissing another man in a parking lot.

They were even spotted together a couple of times (once crashing a wedding and backstage at a Bjork concert), which seemed to confirm that there was something going on.

InTouch Weekly is now saying that whatever they had is now over, because Katy has decided to get back with her ex John Mayer.

“They’re friends, but Rob thought it could turn into something more,” an insider says for the publication.

The tipster adds that Pattinson never imagined that he and Katy wouldn’t get more serious and, consequently, was “blindsided when he found out that Katy was getting back together with her ex John Mayer.”

If he thinks about it, Pattinson could even come up with an explanation for why Katy decided to spend more time with him: she was using him to get back at John.

“Rob feels like Katy used him to get John’s attention. She knew John wouldn’t want to see her with someone else,” the same insider says.

“Rob’s heartbroken. He can’t believe she’s back with John,” the spy adds.

If one is to believe this type of reports, though he’s considered one of the most dashing, elegant, and talented young actors of today, and he can make millions of women swoon with just a smile, Robert Pattison sure is the most unlucky in love man out there.
