14 DAY TRIAL // For the first time since his romance with his “Twilight” co-star Kristen Stewart ended, Robert Pattinson has gone public with another girl, British singer and songwriter FKA Twigs, real name Tahliah Debrett Barnett.
For some fans who still hoped he would get back with Kristen farther down the line, his moving on with his life is too much – so they’ve taken to her Twitter to bombard her with racist remarks and even death threats.
“Robsten,” Hollywood’s hottest young couple
On the set of the first “Twilight” film, Kristen and Robert, who played lovers in front of the camera, fell in love in real life as well. At first believed to be just a marketing ploy to drive sales for the film (which would have sold either way, let it be known), the romance was confirmed when they were caught by the paparazzi kissing and holding hands when they thought no one was watching.
This is how “Robsten” was born, the hottest young couple in Hollywood.
When photos of Kristen making out with Rupert Sanders, her director in “Snow White and the Huntsman,” emerged – undeniable proof that she was cheating on Robert, just like Rupert was cheating on his then-wife – the fandom was in shock.
At first, they wanted to believe the tabloids were setting her up, faking paparazzi shots to make her into the bad guy. Then, they turned on Kristen for breaking Robert’s heart.
The two reconciled for a few months, but Robert eventually “realized” nothing was the same anymore, so the split became definitive (“incidentally”) once the promo tour for the final “Twilight” film wrapped.
Those fans who had in the meantime forgiven Kristen for what she’d done, and all those who were never upset with her in the first place, never lost hope that they would eventually reconcile. Such great love as they shared couldn’t just end, they believed.
FKA Twigs or the cold shower / wake-up call
Enter FKA Twigs, whom Robert is said to have started dating earlier this month. He’s already been photographed hand in hand with her, and there’s a lot of talk about how he’s “smitten” with her, and for the first time since Kristen, genuinely happy.
That should be enough for his fans, but it seems that they don’t want to see their idol happy: they want to see him with Kristen – hence, the hate messages that the 26-year-old singer has been getting non-stop since she was first romantically linked with the handsome Brit.
Writing on her Twitter, FKA Twigs says that “Racism is unacceptable in the real world and it's unacceptable online,” explaining that she’s fed up with the nasty things she was forced to read at her own expense.
Of course, she doesn’t reproduce those things on her feed, but knowing how bitter fans can get at times when it comes to their idols and the anonymity Twitter provides to spread all this bitterness, it’s not hard to imagine that they must have been very nasty indeed.
FKA Twigs isn’t the only celebrity to get this kind of treatment online: a couple of years ago, Taylor Swift was also on the receiving end of death threats when she started dating Harry Styles of One Direction, while Selena Gomez and even Kim Kardashian were targeted online for their relationship with Justin Bieber.
