To promote his latest film, “Water for Elephants,” Robert Pattinson sat down with Vanity Fair Italy for a heart-to-heart talk. Excerpts from it are now available online and, by the looks of it, cheating is a strange concept for the actor.

He’s talented, young, gorgeous and, as if that wasn’t enough, very faithful. In the VF piece, the British heartthrob reveals he’s a one-woman man because he simply can’t wrap his mind around the concept of cheating.

Excellent news for his girlfriend, whoever she may be.

“Life is not black and white... [but] there is one thing I never understood: why people cheat,” he says for the Italian publication.

Being faithful, it seems, is something that Robert learned at home by looking at his parents, who fell in love when they were young and continue to remain happily married even after all these years.

“My parents met when my mom was 17 and my father 25, they are still together and seem very happy. I grew up believing that you can be together all of your life,” he explains.

Robert has also been featured this year in the US version of Vanity Fair, when he praised “Twilight” co-star and rumored girlfriend Kristen Stewart for her acting abilities but avoided all questions of a more personal nature.

“Kristen is very focused on being an actress. I mean, that’s what she is… she’s an actress, whereas I just don’t really know,” Pattinson said, as we also reported.

“She’s cool. Even before I knew her, I thought she was a really good actress. Like, I saw Into the Wild, and I thought she was really good in that. I still think there are very few girls in her class that are as good as she is,” he added.

“Water for Elephants” also stars Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz, and is out in US theaters on April 22, 2011. Expect more interviews with Robert by then.
