Actor says he hasn’t even been on the “New Moon” set yet

Early last week, rumor emerged that “Twilight” star Robert Pattinson was not really in the habit of taking showers. In fact, sources on the “New Moon” set actually said that he was against all such practices altogether, to the point of making it really hard for anyone to spend more than a couple of minutes in his presence. Now, Robert himself is talking to the media in an attempt to squash rumors about his personal hygiene, or lack thereof.

Speaking with Inside/Movies, the British 22-year-old heartthrob admits to reading gossip about himself on the Internet, especially on celebrity blogs, and to having been quite offended by allegations that he is averse to water and washing products of all kinds. The things people would make up to sell magazines and create controversy are, at times, absolutely amazing, the actor says.

“[Is it true that, I don’t know if you saw this, but a source on the set of ‘New Moon’ said that you don’t smell good, that you don’t shower?] I haven’t even been on the set yet! […] I also do shower.” the usually shy Pattinson tells with a laugh. At the same time, he reveals that he too is sometimes in awe as to the stories people write about him. He does, however, make a point of reading them all, especially the negative ones, and of remembering the names of those who write them, names that he later puts down in his “black book,” as he adds with another smile.

In the same interview, Pattinson puts another rumor to rest, as he denies having been hurt on the set of “New Moon,” an incident that could not have taken place as he was not even there. He would also like to work with Benicio del Toro, among many other stars, for one of his upcoming projects. Right at the moment, though, he has just finished “Little Ashes,” which will drop in theaters on May 8.

As fans will remember, the story that had it that Pattinson did not like showers managed to create quite a stir, more so in the context in which he is being labeled as one of the best-looking male stars of his generation. His own admission that he saw no point of washing his hair, made over the weekend, only came to pour more fuel on the fire, it has been noted.
