The fourth film in “The Twilight Saga” has just been confirmed at Cannes by main star Robert Pattinson – which can only come as great news for fans, even if no one doubted Summit’s intentions in this sense. Pattinson, who just arrived at the prestigious Film Festival, also revealed filming “Breaking Dawn” would probably be the most challenging thing so far, Rotten Tomatoes informs.

As “Twilight” fans must know, Pattinson is currently filming for “New Moon,” the second installment in the franchise, while production for followup “Eclipse” is going back to back. Because of this, but also on account of the busy schedule of the British actor, it’s highly unlikely that “Breaking Dawn” will even go into production earlier than late 2010, movie insiders estimate, much to the heartbreak of fans.

“As if there was ever any doubt, Robert Pattinson – currently filming the second and third installments of ‘Twilight’ back-to-back – confirmed in Cannes today that, yes, they’ll make the fourth movie as well. He told The Hollywood Reporter that he’s committed to the adaptation of ‘Breaking Dawn,’ but isn’t sure when it will film yet because of his extensive list of other commitments. This includes the likes of ‘Unbound Captives’ – with Hugh Jackman – and romantic drama ‘Remember Me’.” the movie-oriented publication reports.

According to the same source, Pattinson “is just finishing up shooting ‘New Moon’ in Italy, and plans to head back to Vancouver in October to wrap ‘Eclipse’.” Given his involvement in these projects, but also the popularity of his character Edward (whom many could not imagine played by another actor,) picking Pattinson for the fourth film as well was the next logical move for Summit Entertainment. Unfortunately, Robert could not offer more details on the production, so fans are left waiting for official word from the movie studio.

Speaking of waiting, bear in mind that, on May 31, the first footage from “New Moon” will be shown at the MTV Movie Awards, with Pattinson and co-stars Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner taking the stage to introduce it, as word in the industry has it.
