Ferrari should not be that disappointed after the Hungarian GP. Michael Schumacher should, however, feel pretty bad about letting the chance of getting closer to Alonso in the title race slip away that easy. The German did, however, squeeze a point, even if he went out of the race in its final laps.
The race commissioners considered that Schumacher was 9th overall, since all the drivers outside the points-positions were at least 3 laps behind. Felipe Massa finished 8th overall in the race. So that would have meant that Ferrari only got one point in the constructors' standings.
Still, the Italian team got lucky once more, with Robert Kubica - who finished 7th - disqualified by the race commissioners. The BMW driver was found to have driven a car 2 kg lighter than normal. Therefore, BMW Sauber failed to get 2 more points in the constructors' standings.
Nick Heidfeld managed to squeeze the 1st podium for BMW in the current season, finishing 3rd in the race.
Ferrari is now just 7 points behind Renault in the overall standings, since Kubica's points went to Massa. Therefore, the Italian got 2 points and Schumacher, 9th in the race, was awarded the last point.
In the drivers' standings, the German is now only 10 points away from Alonso, since the Spaniard failed to finish the race. He abandoned soon after he went out of the pit lane, due to a mechanical problem.
