Well, that didn't take long! After on Tuesday Robert Downey Jr. was pushed into admitting that there was not only an “Iron Man 4” movie being made but that he was also starring in it, he's now backtracking and telling the world the movie is not getting made at all.

Robert was present on the Ellen DeGeneres show and she managed to get him to admit that he was in negotiations with Marvel and Disney for the next Iron Man movie, but last night, he went back on what he said and claimed that “there's no plans for an Iron Man 4 (sic).”

The comment was made on yet another talk show, this time on the Late Show with David Letterman. When prompted about the movie, the actor said on separate occasions that, at the moment, there is no work being done on the project.

However, he did add that there are plans for a fourth movie in the franchise. Letterman, visibly upset by the answers, continued his questioning with why Marvel wasn’tmaking another movie, and Robert said something in the lines of them not wanting to make more money.

Letterman wanted to know more so he kept asking, but Robert simply shrugged and explained that Marvel is “very secretive” about their films. Finally, he added “Just between us, no. But I'm going to do other stuff with Marvel. I'll still be involved.”

The decision to not continue the most profitable franchise Marvel has ever produced is being contested by fans who think that Robert should continue to appear in Iron Man movies as long as they keep bringing in money.
