The great success of the 2013 “Iron Man 3” movie at the box office ensured that the franchise was going to see more episodes in the future, but since Robert Downey Jr. had only signed on for a limited number of appearances, everyone was wondering if he was going to be in “Iron Man 4.”

Entertainment Weekly sat down with the famous actor on the set of “Avengers: The Age of Ultron” and asked him if he wanted to be in the next Iron Man movie. The answer was a little evasive, but it pointed in the right direction – Downey does want to put on the Iron Man suit again.

However, he was careful to point out that the decision was not entirely up to him and that it was slightly more complicated a process than just signing a contract. The actor is quoted as saying, “It’s that thing of: why give up the belt when it feels like you can barely get jabbed?” hinting that the role would be the next logical step.

But later, he added a certain disclaimer to his previous statement, “Most people are saying that right when they get knocked out.” He concludes with a philosophical pondering, “The future is, as usual, uncertain.”

But taking into account the fact that he's just been named the world's best paid actor by Forbes thanks to the very lucrative Marvel movies, it's safe to assume that Downey is eager to sign any contract handed over to him by the studio.
