Good news for Robert Downey Jr. because he's just become a father for the third time in his life, as wife Susan has given birth to a daughter in Los Angeles. The announcement comes as last week Robert dedicated his win at the Britannia Awards to his heavily pregnant wife.

Downey is already the proud father of two boys, Exton, 2 years old, and Indio, 21 years old, from a previous marriage. People confirms that he is overjoyed at the arrival of his first daughter.

Downey has been eagerly expecting the birth of his first daughter

Downey joked about his wife at the BAFTA Los Angeles Jaguar Britannia Awards where he was given the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film. “It’s just the uncertainty of how nowadays you have all these things where you think you have much more of an understanding of what you’re going to get,” Downey said adding, “And then this little soul lets herself be known to you, and it’s just like: You don’t know anything. It’s great!”

Ever the joker, the actor was amazed that his wife, “who is literally about to pop,” was such a great partner to him. Asking her to stand, he told the crowd, “How is she still so darn pretty and functional and mood-stable?”

Susan is a talented film producer and she hasn't slowed down a bit with the pregnancy, joining her husband on the road for the promotional campaign of his latest movie, “The Judge,” which is actually the first project done “in house,” by the production company Team Downey.

Downey claims that he has newfound respect for producers ever since meeting his wife, which is why he agreed to start a production company with her, confessing ignorance as to what exactly a producer did on set apart from screaming at actors until he fell in love with Susan.

This is the best news for the Downey family in a long time, after Indio's battle with drugs

The Downey family has also been through some less happy experiences lately as Robert's oldest son Indio had to face some drug-related charges. Robert, a former drug user himself, defended his son by saying that addiction ran in the family and every member had to work hard to combat it.

As far as Robert's career goes, the rumors that he will reprise his most famous role of Iron Man for a fourth film has yet to be confirmed by Marvel. There is much speculation on the matter, but at least we know that Iron Man will make an appearance in “Captain America 3” as it's been announced that the sequel is going to follow the Civil War storyline from the comics, which sees the two super heroes paired up against one another.
