A gangster movie with Pacino and De Niro and directed by Martin Scorsese is a wet dream for any serious film enthusiast. Such a project comes but once in a life time, and De Niro is bent on keeping his fans waiting.
The legendary actor, who has already given some of his best performances as tough gangsters, told Flatt Magazine in an interview that the long-overdue project was still in development. “We have been trying to do [the film] for the last few years, and I think we will do it,” said De Niro quoted by Page Six.
The movie, that also stars loud-mouthed Joe Pesci, is based on the book “I Heard You Paint Houses” by Charles Brandt and, in De Niro's own words, “It’s about a guy who . . . confessed that he killed Hoffa and Joe Gallo. I’m gonna play that character. That’s something I’m looking forward to very much . . . I think it will [happen] . . . we’re really working towards making it happen.”
Can there be a movie with a more solid plot, a better director and more legendary characters than this at the moment? Surely, you jest!
