Music veteran Tony Christie has composed the theme tune for the upcoming
new Bond movie, "Casino Royale", and would like Robbie Williams to sing it. Considering the fact that the song is to be recorded in February, Tony has plenty of time to convince the singer.
Which won't be a difficult task anyway, as Robbie is a big 007 fan. He can often be seen wearing a Bond style tuxedo, or lifting his eyebrow Roger Moore style.
Tony declared:
"Robbie's voice would suit it down to the ground - plus he's current and hip so it would be absolutely great if he did it. We tried to make it a typical Bond theme tune with a throbbing dramatic bassline filling the background.
I'm a huge fan of the old school 007 songs like Shirley Bassey with 'Goldfinger' and Tom Jones singing 'Thunderball', so I tried to give it that authentic sound. We are due to record it in February."
One year ago, many youngsters had no idea who Tony Christie was, but after he revamped Amarillo with Peter Kay, and reached number one in both singles and album charts, he gained a better profile in the eyes of the new generation.
