'Back with a vengeance' could be a saying that would fit for the British singer just perfectly, especially in the light of the track that he included on his latest album. Before making a name for himself, Robbie came to fame together with the popular boy band Take That but his problems with the former manager are something that he just can't let go.
The unsolved issues between Robbie and Martin Smith are the reason that the star left the band, but even now, after so many years, he can't seem to get over it. As a matter of fact, Williams is so upset with Smith, that he 'dedicated' an entire song to him... and to the way he fantasized of killing him.
A fragment from 'The Nineties' track goes something like this: 'Either you're a thief or you're s**t, which one you'll admit to? Such an evil man, I used to fantasize about taking a Stanley knife and playing around with your eyes'.
And that's just a small part of the whole, as Robbie also accuses his former manager of putting him under unnecessary pressure. In the lyrics of the song, he tells how he was forced to change his name, lose a lot of weight to attract more fans and to always avoid being seen or photographed with a girl. Besides, he re-enforced his theory that Gary Barlow was the manager's favorite, in the detriment of the other four members, including himself.
The singer also claimed that both he and the other boys were cheated during their European tour. 'When we'd finished touring and asked where the money was, he said "You don't make money in Europe, boys". Well, I don't understand. I'm on this tour in Europe, making money, doing very well in fact. So either he's a thief or a rubbish manager', Robbie explained.
