Rob Zombie is getting ready to return to the big screen with a movie like only he could have made. “The Lords of Salem” was shot as an indie last year and has just received an R rating from the MPAA, ahead of its spring US debut.

Zombie himself made the announcement on his official Facebook page.

Come to think of it, it’s no surprise that “The Lords of Salem” got an R rating, well known being Zombie’s propensity to gore and violence.

What is surprising though is that it didn’t get an NC-17 rating, which would have forced the director to do massive re-editing to bring it to an R.

Starring Sheri Moon Zombie, Bruce Davison, Ken Foree, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Patricia Quinn and Judy Geeson, the film aims to bring to life a “modern day Salem” in typical Rob Zombie style.
