If we thought, even for a second, that the ordeal in the 2007 “Halloween” was anywhere near its end, Rob Zombie would like to beg to differ. His work as a director of horror movies is just beginning and, no matter how much critics and audience alike hate him for it, he will continue to do his job. As proof of that, we have the first prototype of the mask killer Michael Myers will be wearing in the 2009 movie.

Somewhat redundantly called “H2: Halloween 2,” the sequel to the critically panned 2007 horror flick is supposed to be released sometime in 2009 (no specifics have been made available at this time) and, as a warm-up for the fans, writer and director Rob Zombie has posted the picture to the left on the official web page of the movie.

While clearly still in prototype phase, fans of the original cult film have already invaded the forums to declare that the mask, the most recent one that is, strongly resembles the William Shatner “Captain Kirk” white mask used years ago. The only difference, they say, is that the former was painted orange, had the hair redid, the eye holes cut out, and was given an overall more battered aspect. So far, nothing of this has been confirmed by the controversial director/rocker.

As for the film in itself, it is supposed to follow in chronology the 2007 remake, “Halloween.” Despite the fact that this movie was trashed by critics and fans of the 1978 original cult classic, director and screenwriter R.Z announced shortly afterwards that he was also considering making a sequel.

Filming for “H2: Halloween 2” is set to start in March 2009, its status currently being of in pre-production. Judging by the way things went with the first one, fans of Zombie will probably be kept up to date by the director himself, via posts on his personal website. This being said, keep an eye on this space for more details on “H2” if you too happen to be among those fans.
